Our next generation is facing a very challenging world today. We need to emphatise with them.
More than that, we ought to help them arise in significance in the Gospel of God’s Kingdom, to live successfully in love, joy and peace of Kingdom life.
And be used by the Lord to bring about transformation in their world.
The church can do better in intentionally equipping parents in discipleship of their family in God’s Kingdom realities.
Clear goal of family discipleship
The clear goal of family discipleship is not only that our families are attending church but they are groomed for Kingdom significance and for God’s reign in society.
This is a challenging yet exciting call to family discipleship.
God’s plan is to have His will done on earth as it is in heaven.
This is achieved by two agencies that bear the same name: “family”
- The biological family that believes in Christ.
- And the Church which is God’s Family.
The Church Family is to intentionally equip believing families to live vibrant, joyful and wholesome Christian family life.
AND to fulfil their Kingdom purposes and destiny.
The Church should major on equipping parents to make disciples of their children and their future generations.
The discipleship journey
The discipleship journey continues with concern for the family to be victorious over temptations and to be in good relationships.
Most of all, to continue their faith into the next generation. For us, it is in the 21st Century and beyond.
Family is in the nature and heart of God.
God is the Father in heaven.
Jesus is His Son.
Jesus is coming back for the Church as His Bride.
The Bride is made up of a new people, the redeemed of the Lord, compatible with her Bridegroom Jesus.
Hence the Bride has to be nothing less than the Glorious Church (Ephesians 5:27).
God’s destiny for His redeemed people who form the Church, God’s Family on Earth, is to join God’s Family in Heaven where the Father is seated on His throne and His Son at His right hand.
God our Father wants His heavenly rule to be upon earth so that we may have a taste of eternity in our hearts by the Holy Spirit.
You and your family exist for God’s purpose.
The ‘salt’ in your life and the the ‘light’ that you shine make the world fascinated with Christian families!
We are wonderfully and purposefully made.
Do not miss God’s plan for you and your family.
